From a stay in Ibiza to owning a home by the sea

A stay can sometimes be the beginning of a more lasting connection with a destination.

For one of Le Collectionist’s clients, a Cazar partner, that story unfolded in Ibiza. Already familiar with the island, he shared with the Le Collectionist team his desire to finally have a home of his own there. They introduced him to Cazar to turn that desire into a concrete property project.

This marked the beginning of a bespoke search led by our local expert, with a precise brief and an island to explore from a different perspective. One year later, the search would eventually lead to Cala Portinatx, in northern Ibiza, where a fisherman’s house by the sea would become his own.

The brief: finding a waterfront home in Ibiza

The client had a clear vision: a waterfront property in a preserved setting, with a swimming pool or enough land to build one, offering a privileged connection to the Mediterranean through direct access to the sea, an absolute must for him, as well as at least four en-suite bedrooms.

In Ibiza, where truly exceptional properties are scarce and not always visible on the open market, the search could not be limited to publicly available listings.

Our local Cazar expert explored the market starting from the client’s requirements, drawing on his network and identifying opportunities that could meet his expectations. One year later, the search led to Cala Portinatx, in the north of the island, with the acquisition of a renovated fisherman’s house for €6 million.

Portinatx, the preserved side of northern Ibiza

At the northern tip of the island, Portinatx offers a more secluded side of Ibiza. Here, the landscape is shaped by pine-covered hills, crystal-clear coves and a wilder coastline, far from the bustle of the south.

The choice of northern Ibiza also reflects a broader evolution taking place across the island. Long considered more secluded, this part of Ibiza is now attracting a high-end clientele looking for a more preserved environment. The opening of Six Senses Ibiza in Cala Xarraca in 2021 is one sign of the area’s growing appeal.

Once a fishing village, Portinatx is centred around several small bays, including S’Arenal Gros, S’Arenal Petit and Cala Portinatx. This distinctive geography creates an immediate connection with the Mediterranean, with homes located close to the water and, in the most privileged locations, expansive views across the sea.

Northern Ibiza is also defined by its atmosphere. More residential and preserved, it attracts buyers looking for tranquillity, nature and privacy, while remaining connected to the villages and addresses that bring this part of the island to life.

A market where location makes all the difference

In Portinatx, as elsewhere in Ibiza, not all waterfront properties are equal. Access to the sea, orientation, views, privacy and proximity to a cove can fundamentally shape the experience of a property, as well as its rarity on the market.

Homes enjoying a truly privileged position along the coastline are in limited supply, particularly in light of current regulations. Some properties are publicly listed, while others circulate more discreetly and remain accessible only through local networks. In some cases, opportunities need to be created by approaching owners directly and convincing them to sell.

Portinatx therefore embodies a quieter, more preserved side of Ibiza, particularly sought after by those who value nature, tranquillity and an immediate connection to the Mediterranean.

When a stay becomes a property project

This acquisition also illustrates the complementary relationship between Le Collectionist and Cazar.

Le Collectionist accompanies its clients through stays and experiences in exceptional destinations. Cazar steps in when an attachment to a place becomes a property project.

Through our network of partners across travel, hospitality, concierge services and luxury, we can support clients looking to move from a place they love to a property of their own. A natural progression from discovering a destination, to getting to know it and, sometimes, deciding to establish a more permanent connection with it.

Considering buying a property in Ibiza?

Cazar represents buyers exclusively.

We have no properties to sell and no listings to promote.

Our search begins with your project: what you are looking for, how you want to experience the island and the criteria that truly matter to you.

Our Cazar Expert in Ibiza then explores the market, both on-market and off-market, to identify properties that match your search and guide you through to acquisition.
